I installed a Windows 7 Enterprise on a Virtual Machine (Microsoft Virtual Server 2005). The first thing I found was this, but I am definitely sure my timezone and time and date information is correct.
Still I get a Code 80072F8F Windows Update encountered an unknown error.
I have a Nokia Lumia 1020 and I’ve been eagerly awaiting the latest Cyan release of the operating system, but when I try to check for updates I just get the following message: ‘Windows Update error 80072f8f’. This error occurs when attempting to run Windows Update while your clock is set incorrectly.
🙁 Thankfully, as mentioned earlier, the fix is generally very easy as you just need to update your computer’s date/time to be accurate.
And I think since that change I cannot install updates even though I changed it back to UTC. I've thought about System Restore but I don't have any points that I can revert back to. I am still new to Windows 8.1 and I apologise if this has been answered already.
